Aylesbury Academy 3 v 2 Eastleigh
Aylesbury Academy showed great mental strength and determination to beat a well organised Eastleigh team on Wednesday afternoon, after putting in some great performances in recent weeks without getting results this was the day Aylesbury deserved their first 3 points of 2011.
Aylesbury started the game slowly giving away a number of needless free kicks and corners which invited a big Eastleigh team to put pressure on Aylesbury’s goal, Daniel Eggleton did well to keep Eastleigh out early on but on 30mins could do nothing about an excellent shot by an Eastleigh midfielder from the edge of the box after a cleared corner. Aylesbury did respond before the break with the lively Jack Welch hitting the bar and Devon Blackman testing the keeper.
HT 0-1
The academy players were told a few home truths at the break and came out firing for the second half, good football was being played in the Eastleigh half, Tristan Nicholls on as a 2nd half sub delivered some wonderful crosses into the box which resulted in Jeanmal Prosper putting a header over the bar and Marcus Hussey heading against the bar, as so often happens in football with Aylesbury not being able to convert their chances Eastleigh broke away and scored to put them 2-0 up. Academy heads did not drop and on 70mins good work by Jack Welch and Lewis Roots resulted in Jeanmal Prosper scoring. Aylesbury heads were now even higher and 2mins later Tristan Nicholls somehow squeezed the ball home after a great cross from Jack Welch 2-2. Coach Trevor Griffiths decided we could win the game and pushed Lewis Roots forward into attack and in the 89th minute after a great pass from man of the match Josh Corcoran Lewis found himself one on one with the Eastleigh keeper he made no mistake calmly slotting home to finish a great comeback by the Academy.

Chelsea 3 v 0 Aylesbury Academy
Aylesbury Academy FC came away from Bisham Abbey with their heads held high after giving Chelsea a run for their money in what was an entertaining game last Wednesday. Aylesbury started the game very brightly causing Chelsea some early problems, good work from Jack Seaton and Josh Corcoran on 5mins provided Lewis Roots with a shooting opportunity which flew narrowly over the bar from the edge of the area. The first 20 mins were spent in the Chelsea half with Aylesbury creating lots of half chances but unable to score, during this time Tristan Nichols and Sanwall Hussain put some excellent crosses into the Chelsea box. Unable to take the lead Aylesbury allowed Chelsea to get their foot back in the game, they played some good football through the midfield but the Aylesbury back 4 of Josh Corcoran, Jordan Collins, Jeanmal Prosper and Marcus Hussey stood firm until a very soft penalty was awarded to the hosts on 40mins, they scored and went in at the break 1-0 up.
Aylesbury took to the pitch in the 2nd half determined to put Chelsea under more pressure, Marcus Spring was again outstanding upfront working his socks off and creating chances for himself and team mates one of which fell to Devon Blackman who’s shot was pushed around the post, Chelsea were also playing good football with their lively forwards creating problems and keeping the Aylesbury goalkeeper Liam Smith on his toes. On 70mins Sanwall Hussain and Marcus Hussey combined down the left once again with Marcus putting in a great cross, Tristan did well to meet the cross 5yards out but somehow managed to put his shot over the bar, with this great opportunity gone Aylesbury threw more bodies forward in the hope of an equaliser but were caught out twice on the counter attack by a very fast Chelsea team. Final score 3-0 to Chelsea
