  • Approach to an incident (danger, help, bystanders)
  • Assessment of priorities (ABC)
  • Checking responsiveness (shake and shout )
  • Opening the airway (chin lift/head tilt )
  • Checking breathing ( look/listen/feel )
  • Checking the pulse (carotid)
  • Recovery position (for breathing casualty)
  • Breathing for the casualty (mouth to mouth)
  • Chest Compressions
  • Combined heart-lung resuscitation
  • Control of bleeding (press and raise)
  • Dressing of wounds
  • Minimising shock
  • Choking
  • Heart attacks
